Resumo

Motherhood is precious manifestation, embracing a lot of grace and glorification in all the Indian religion, whether Hindu, Muslim, Christian, Sikhs, Parsis and others. In India, mother is considered as ‘Matr shakti’, the ideology of motherhood premediatesthe process of nation building.7But this very nature of mother demands a lot of sacrifices, right from the start and ‘mothers to be’ has to face profuse discrimination, misbehaviour, abuse depending on different societal factor which we are living with and which seems common to all of us. These social factors have adverse amount of impact on maternal healthcare, some of these factors are: socioeconomic status, education, mental healthcare, caste and ethnicity, gender, religion, culture, access to nutrition, employment and domestic work. This paper seeks to focus mainly on education, economic status and few overlapping aspects, how these factors impact on maternal healthcare in India. This paper is made with the help of secondary source of data including mainly articles, and journals, thispaper focuses on antenatal care, prenatal care and skilled birth attendants as the maternal healthcare per se. The paper tries to throw more light on the constitutional perspective of the subject matter taking into account social relations
